The NSW Outback is a landscape of great beauty which will take your breath away with its grandeur and its drama.
It will wrap you up and persuade you to return over and over again because there is nowhere else on earth quite like it. Art, culture, history and waterways are a few of the surprises that can be found in places like Broken Hill, Lightning Ridge (Black Opals), Bourke, Cobar, Wentworth and Corner Country.
The 'backbone' of this wonderful region is the magnificent Darling River which provides the lifeblood for the unique flora and fauna in the area and was once the great inland highway running from Brewarrina to Wentworth. An exciting new Visit Outback NSW initiative is The Darling River Run - a work in progress with an accompanying image library.
A trip to Outback NSW will leave you with lasting images of the great Australian landscapes. Outback NSW.... put yourself in the picture! |

Never has there been a better time to Visit Outback NSW. Most of the region has received much needed rain, providing the characteristic red soils to be complemented by wonderful green hues of plant life and the iconic Darling River is at its best and flowing due to some much welcome rain in the upper catchment.
